Original Speech Manuscript:
PC versus Mac. Many people think of the Apple commercials when the two guys, one representing a Mac and the other represents a PC and in the end the PC guy looks stupid and people end up buying a Mac. The truth of the matter is that I am a PC and Windows 7 was my idea. All jokes aside, I really do think that PCs are better for the money than a Mac. I believe that the PC is more multifaceted than the Macintosh. I believe it can accommodate for the gamer, programmer, video editor, designer, note taker, or person who has never used a computer before. I believe it can provide for different levels of income and adjust to certain needs of people. For the price of a Mac Pro 13 inch which starts at $1,199 you can purchase an Alienware M15x 15 inch laptop which is about 2 to 3 times the computer the Mac Pro is. I know that a lot of experienced graphic designers or video editors will recommend the Mac, but let’s be honest, for those of you who purchased a Mac did it for one of the other reasons than the ones mentioned earlier such as the design, your friend had it, you watched the ads, you liked the battery life or you wanted that free iTouch with the computer. With the Mac, limitations are made and there are only so many different designs and hardware changes you can make to it. The PC on the other hand allows me to express my creativity and doesn’t bind me to limitations in design and software. The PC reflects a free attitude where set boundaries are rejected and strides for improvement are made every time. As a PC can be modified with different parts such as graphic cards, audio cards, or cooling fans, I too strive to make myself better. To see the world in different view, to listen to others, to speak with confidence, and to be efficient as possible are just some of the limitless ways to improve myself. The PC shows versatility and is unique with each and every user. As a human being I strive for change and improvement, shouldn’t my choice of computer reflect these decisions? PC versus Mac. Think about it.

Reflection: This is my This I Believe speech and the one thing that didn't work for this speech was that it lacked a personal link to the whole subject about PC vs. Mac. I forgot to mention the personal link I have with this debate and because I forgot that essential part, this speech is not as strong as it could have been. In addition, I learned that a topic like this might not be suitable for a This I Believe essay. The topic made it hard for me to relate it personally. I should have added a personal anecdote about how the PC worked better for me or how the Mac didn't work as well to make this speech a little more solid and cohesive.
